Since my youth I have been building computers and have a strong systems knowledge going back through all versions of Microsoft Windows to MS-DOS. I also have been a Mac user since 2006, so have built up an extensive knowledge of both PCs and Macs. I received my Bachelors degree in Business Information Technology & Multimedia from Gloucestershire University in 1998.

Professionally, I worked at IBM in the UK for two years in 1999, as well as spending over eight years in Beijing working in the IT and Telecoms sectors. Experience:

In 2006 I was one of the founding partners of Vineyard Cafe in Beijing. We built the business from scratch and created the concept ourselves. I ran the bar, created the drinks and was in charge of all our online marketing efforts pionerring the use of blogging platforms and online social networks in bar promotion in Beijing. Despite being hidden down a remote hutong, great word of mouth, coupled with a unified online presence generated an exponential growth in foot traffic and we were able to recoup our initial investment within the first year. After two years I sold my shares in the business to the existing partners to move on to new projects.The business continues to run successfully to this day.

In 2008, I co-founded Ginkgo Restaurant & Bar, in the space of the former Room 101 on Andingmennei, Beijing which ran for two years becoming a unique space for live music in Beijing. I ran the business, organising many incredibly successful events. I also developed and ran a strong online blog presence, promoting our events as well as writing and designing a monthly email newsletter. I also developed and installed the FreePOS till system for the bar and restaurant which provided detailed customer order tracking, and greatly simplified tracking of our accounts. The system was used on a daily basis for over two years. My other rules included designing the menus and occasional flyer design. Sadly after two years we were forced to close due to problems with our Chinese partner, and an uncertainty on our lease.
